Expectorant [EPC]
Uses Uses: temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes. Clinical selection for Guaifenesin BP 100mg,Menthol 1.1mg, per 5ml should follow culture results where relevant, Kenya STG/EML recommendations, and the current product SmPC. Class context: Expectorant [EPC]. Confirm site-specific dose, duration and monitoring before prescribing.
Directions Do not give more than 6 doses in any 24 hours period shake well before use measure only with dosing cup provided keep dosing cup with product mL = milliliter Age Dose Children 6 to under 12 years of age 5 mL every 4 hours Children 4 to under 6 years of age 2.5 mL every 4 hours Children under 4 years of age Do not use
Adverse reactions vary by agent. Counsel on common predictable effects and serious warning symptoms (allergy, severe rash, jaundice, unusual bleeding, severe GI symptoms, neurological changes). Report suspected ADRs via national pharmacovigilance channels.
