Lomefloxacin

What it is used for
E.N.T., UTI, RTI, skin and soft tissues, bone, joint, GI, intra-abdominal, pelvic and severe infections, gonorrhoea. Clinical selection for Lomefloxacin should follow culture results where relevant, Kenya STG/EML recommendations, and the current product SmPC. Warnings
A relatively high incidence of phototoxic reactions has been seen in patients taking lomefloxacin. Patients should be advised to avoid exposure to sunlight during, and for a few days after, lomefloxacin therapy, and to stop the drug immediately if phototoxicity occurs. Risk of phototoxicity may be reduced by taking lomefloxacin in the evening.
Possible side effects
High incidence of photosensitivity, local irritation at the site of injection, GI disturbances, dizziness, headache, tremor, confusion, convulsions, rashes, blurred vision, psychotic reactions, impaired vision, impaired taste and smell sensation, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, hot flushes, skin rashes, migraine.
