Adverse effects

  • GI upset (iron, high-dose vitamin C).
  • Hypercalcaemia (vitamin D excess).
  • Neuropathy with B6 megadoses.
  • Flushing (niacin).

Absorption

Folic acid preconception/first trimester critical. Iron/folate common in ANC. Avoid excess vitamin A.
