What it is used for
Uses Uses: temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes. Clinical selection for Guaifenesin, Dextromethorphan and Menthol should follow culture results where relevant, Kenya STG/EML recommendations, and the current product SmPC. Class context: Expectorant [EPC]. Confirm site-specific dose, duration and monitoring before prescribing.
Warnings
Warnings Do not use in child who is taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional condition, or Parkinson’s disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug. If you do not know if your child’s prescription drug contains an MAOI, ask a doctor or pharmacist before giving this product.
Possible side effects
Adverse reactions vary by agent. Counsel on common predictable effects and serious warning symptoms (allergy, severe rash, jaundice, unusual bleeding, severe GI symptoms, neurological changes). Report suspected ADRs via national pharmacovigilance channels.
